After serving (working) 28 years in a maximum security prison in Michigan, Darlene and I retired and moved to Crossville. I started wood carving and carved mostly ducks, birds and Santa's. One of our carving friends told me he wanted to start a wood turning group. I went with them although I did not even have a lathe. The last experience I had with a lathe was in high school when a 15 pound hunk of walnut flew out and hit me in the forehead. Fifteen stitches later I decided woodturning was not my idea of fun. However after our first meeting I was hooked. I have found that combining carving and woodturning is the most interesting and cannot get enough of it.
