I only started turning in earnest about two years ago, but I have been around wood
all my life, since my father was a builder. I worked in carpentry from a young age and
also operated all types of woodworking tools. I aquired a 1948 Shopsmith as my first lathe
but only piddled with it before retiring and moving to Tennessee. I came in contact with
the club through a display at the fairgrounds and called Jim Bentley who directed me to a
meeting. I loved the things others were making and vowed to learn to do the same.
I’m not THERE yet!
