As many woodworkers/woodturners in my age group my introduction to "woodcrafting" was fueled by a 9th grade class in " Shop".
I continued "making stuff" out of wood throughout my working life, but it was not until retirement that I was re introduced to woodturning. I met Bryon Courtney, who some of you remember, he spent a day with me and I was hooked. Shortly after that Bryon, Bobby Clemons. Roger Doxey and a few others invited me to join a woodturning club they were starting ----I had the shop---they had the skills. I have enjoyed hosting the Cumberland Woodturners ever since. My skills may have improved slightly, but that does not compare with the many friends I have made and the countless hours of enjoyment at our meetings.
The candlesticks in my gallery pictures were the ones I made for my mother in that 9th grade shop class. Someday I will see if I can duplicate them.
